The tourism had its beginning in the Marsh of Zapata among the years 1955-1956, when several wealthy North Americans established a great business taking advantage of the potentialities of our biggest natural reservoir: Lagoon of the Treasure!
The northern Mr. Thomas Turner, a campaign began in Cuba and USA with the purpose of attracting tourists lovers of the hunt and the fishing. Then it filmed a film documentary of their adventures for the basin, showing mainly with it the potentialities of the territory of the legendary lagoon for the fishing of the trout.
This way, looking for the feasibility of such a business, they built a narrow channel first of approximately 3 kilometers of longitude to arrive at the famous lagoon, then the foreigners brought an aquatic aerobote like half of transportation, lastly they built two floating houses in the key "The Corúas" almost in the center of the lagoon by way of cabins, which could be moved by the whole acuatorio after being towed until the wanted place. This cabins had a rent of $100 daily dollars for the client.
When triumphing the Cuban Revolution the First of January of 1959 it was socialized and it diversified the tourism in the Marsh of Zapata, thanks to the construction of new and quicker communication roads like they were the cases of the pedraplenes: central "Australia"-Long Beach-Girón, central "Covadonga"-San Blas-Girón, Yaguaramas-Horquitas-San Blas-Girón. Those three roads facilitated to build tourist centers and they also allowed the accessibility of the whole population and of tourists of the socialist countries to the same ones.
After November 5 1959 opened up the traffic for those pedraplenes, the following establishments and tourist villages were built:
• Cafeteria-Restaurant "The Mouth". December 23 1960.
• Tourist Villa of Long Beach. July 27 1961. At 10:00 o'clock AM.
• Tourist Villa of Beach Girón. July 27 1961. Among 2:00 o'clock-4:00 PM.
• Tourist Villa of "Guamá" July .18 1962.
• Cafeteria-Restaurant "Pious Cua". 1963.
And although for the law 636 of November 20 1959 the was created "National Institute of the Tourist Industry" (INIT) who had like ends the politics's of tourist development programming; the execution of the plans of tourist development of the Revolutionary Government; the conservation and development of the Cuban natural wealth, with tourist significance; the protection of the historical and cultural patrimony of the Nation, outstanding to the ends of the tourism and the removal and progressive superación of all the causes of the Cuban tourist underdevelopment. However, it was the Park National Peninsula of Zapata (PNPZ) - Special Plan to develop integrally to the Marsh of Zapata in the economic thing - social and cultural, with certain environmentalist shades-who it organized and he/she administered the tourism in her from October of 1960 until the year 1971.

To our way of analyzing the historical processes, we are presented it as a setback of the local tourism as for the aspiration of evolving of a "Optional Tourist" to a "I Dedicate Tourist" in Marsh of Zapata.
Given the potentialities of the territory in the natural, historical and cultural, today they are developed in the state tourist sector the following modalities:
• Observation of birds with the company of specialized guides belonging to the Natural National Park.
• Senderismo.

TOURISM NOT STATE OR PRIVATE
It is a relatively new social economic phenomenon in Cuba and in the Marsh of Zapata in the particular thing. As university professor we give priority to the work axiológico with the present and residents' of the Great Humedal future generations that yes it should be a concern! Our children, adolescents and youths can it turns influenced by ways of thinking and of incompatible performance with our system of values, behaved by clients with incorrect behaviors as well as they exist in other countries of the World. Those cenagueritos every day is exposed to it to cohabit in the lease houses and restaurants. Another problem is presented when the infants and adolescents arrive to superficial but very objective valuations of being won the sustenance working in the private business, and not to follow the continuity of studies toward technician's career half or university, many times listens to them: for what reason will it serve me to study if I can sustain myself without making it?
Then, the parents and owners of business cannot lose of view that the client comes in search of the observation of our rich nature, but also of the cultural relationship with the town that visits. We should have every day working in our business to more learned, prepared people that can respond with depth the queries of the tourists, and it alone it is achieved through the schools and the conscious study.
