THE ROADS OF COMMUNICATION IN THE MARSH DE HALF-BOOT. FIRST PART


 
For: MSc. Julio Antonio Amorín Ponce. Historian of the Marsh of Zapata. 
 
It is almost impossible for any journalist, writer or investigator, to select certain thematic one at random to disclose, motives generally exist, causal and motivations that impact in the fellow's conscience. And in the case that occupies us in this journalistic report - Roads of Communication in the Marsh of Zapata-he/she has the purpose of clarifying once and for all and for all the ingrained confusion that has settled down from the year 1959 until our days as for that: "In the Marsh of alone Zapata a railroad existed before 1959 of via narrow and a single rail vehicle!" 
 
Such a statement made by leaders, writers, certain historians of national fame, picture and text in the Museum of Beach Girón and until on the part of common people, of on foot, he/she moves away from the historical truth reflected in several sources of the knowledge like they are: 
- I liberate "4 years in the Marsh of Zapata". Written for the Engineer Boss of the construction of the railroad "Australia-Ensenada of Pigs." 
- I testify oral engraving of the Boss of Machineries of the Central one "Australia" before 1959. 
- Testimonies oral engravings of more than a hundred grandparents cenagueros bigger than 70 years that approached the thematic one in interviews carried out by the author among the years 1997-1999. 
- Diverse pictures of rail vehicles that trafficked for that road among the years 1917-1959. 
- The author's Vivencias who when boy walked above the rails of the mentioned railroad, in the understood tract of "The Alps." 
 
Besides fulfilling the Code of Ethics of the Union of Historians from Cuba as for defending the truth, we have the duty of emphasizing in the fact that still when the Marsh of Zapata was one of the more forgotten and alienated areas of Cuba before 1959, and that for this reason they awarded him adjectives or pejorative sentences as "The Dark África of Cuba", "Feud of crocodiles and mosquitos", "Furnia where they hide the réprobos", "The boiler of the hell", etc, etc, etc… it didn't impede it that certain gentlemen and private companies ventured to prove luck in the business inside the legendary Cuenca. We should not confuse Government Politics of that time (before 1959) with Historical Truth to Repeat something uncertain along the time it is not healthy neither for the history neither for the ethics of the own Revolution! 
 
This Revolutionary Process doesn't need that nobody flatters him when of the work in the Marsh of Zapata is, her alone it is felt to each step that we give inside this wonderful humedal: All the big transformations that are observed here (highways, tourist villages, electricity, conservationist politics, health, education, culture for all and other more, alone kindness provided them the Revolution! That neither the staunchest detractors in the Revolutionary Process would dare to deny it, for that reason always we should attach to the truth: The Marsh of Zapata before 1959 had several communication roads and vehicles, although all they were slow, insecure and private, for what you/they didn't respond to the interests and its humble residents' necessities, but to private interests! 
 
This is the historical true that constitutes our compass from the year 1997 when we begin to historiar to this blue green Cuenca. 
 
To carry out any socioeconomic activity or favorable change in a place, does it become necessary first, to establish communication roads and which those of the Marsh were they? It will continue...
